Started working in timber frame construction in the UK. Worked my way up from being a labourer on major construction sites to becoming a plumber, plasterer, tiler and first fix carpenter.

August 2006
Started working for Adam Kirkwood bespoke kitchens where we installed custom designed kitchens.
January 2008
Started Plan-B Home renovations doing all sorts of maintenance and renovation work. Renovation of bathrooms, new plumbing, pergolas and garden sheds, new garden lights, painting and uPVC window fitting were but a few of the jobs I did.
November 2010
After moving back to South Africa I became more interested in building with sustainable materials and started doing research on what is available in South Africa. In the mean time I kept Plan-B going and concentrated on small renovation jobs while sourcing suppliers in the timber industry.
November 2020
I started Wickfords with the sole aim to build high quality timber frame homes in South Africa. With all the latest technologies within our reach I could not understand why people are still building the old fashioned way. Timber framing is a sustainable, high class building method and it can easily compare with brick and mortar when it comes to durability.

I developed the Wickfords house to be future proof. All commodities are either getting scarce or more expensive. This included labour, materials, water, electricity and maintenance. All the materials we use are guaranteed by the manufacturers for a minimum of 10 years with some going as high as 50 years. Even our footings have been tested to last a minimum of 100 years. Typical construction time for a 200 m² luxury house is approx. 3 months depending on terrain thus saving you costs.
